Who I am

This website is run by Emily Jacobs, a casting director based in the United Kingdom. For anything on this page, you can reach me at emily@emilyjacobs.co.uk.

Under UK data protection law I am the "data controller" for any personal information described below — which, on this site, is very little.

What this site collects

This website has no contact forms, no sign-up boxes and no accounts. There is nothing here for you to fill in, and nothing is collected about you when you simply read the site, beyond the technical basics described under Cookies and analytics below.

The only personal information I hold through this site is:

  • Anything you choose to send me by email. If you email the address on this site, I receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write.

  • Basic technical information recorded automatically by the site's hosting provider — for example your approximate location, browser type, and the pages you looked at. This is standard web hosting activity and is not used to identify you.

Why I hold it, and for how long

If you email me, I use your message to reply to you and, where it leads to work, to carry out that work. The lawful basis is legitimate interests — it would be difficult to respond to a professional enquiry without keeping the enquiry.

I keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for the working relationship, and then delete it. Where I am required to keep records for tax or accounting purposes, I keep those for the period the law requires.

Who else sees it

  • Squarespace, who host this website, process technical and analytics data on my behalf. Squarespace is based in the United States and data may be transferred there under the safeguards their terms provide.

  • My email provider, in the ordinary course of delivering and storing email.

I do not sell your information, and I do not share it for marketing.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask me to:

  • give you a copy of the personal information I hold about you

  • correct anything that is wrong

  • delete it

  • restrict or object to how I use it

If you are not satisfied with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
